Burn virtual data CD with DVD Power Burner 2.7 and Phantom Burner

Create a new CD image

Start Phantom Burner

Switch to the "Operations" tab.

Click on the "Create" button.

Phantom Burner will prompt you for the location of the disc image file.

Make sure the "disc type" is set to "CD-R".

Since we are burning a data CD, we can ignore the "Convert audio track to WAV format" option, which applies to audio CD only. The "Convert data disc to ISO format" option tells Phantom Burner to use ISO as data disc image format. ISO is a standard format which is supported by many software. If this option is not checked, Phantom Burner will create the image as its own "VDD" format.

Enter the disc image file name and click "Save".

Launch DVD Power Burner

Install DVD Power Burner and launch the software.

DVD Power Burner shows the selected burner at the bottom of its window. Make sure "PHNTMBLT PHANTOM BURNER" is selected.

Create Data CD

Click "C/DVD Wizard" to bring up the project wizard.

The default is "Data CD".

Click "OK".

DVD Power Burner project windows has two areas. The top panels shows the Windows Explorer, the bottom panel is the layout panel.

Nagivate and select the files you want to burn.

Drag the files to the lower panel to add to the layout.

Burn CD

Click the "Burn" button. You will see the burner properties dialog.

Click the "Burn" button. DVD Power Burner will start burning the disc.

...and soon finishes.

Mount virtual data CD

As the disc is burned successfully, now we can mount the virtual disc in Windows Explorer, like a regular data CD.

Go to Phantom Burner dialog again.

If you used a real burner, you will have to eject the disc first, then mount it. It is the same with Phantom Burner.

First, click the "Eject" button to eject the "disc".

Then click "Mount Last Image"  to mount the image we juse created.

Now, when you go back to Windows Explorer, you will see the CD available. You can double-click to see its content.
