Burn virtual data CD with BurnQuick 4.9 and Phantom Burner

Create a new CD image

Start Phantom Burner

Switch to the "Operations" tab.

Click on the "Create" button.

Phantom Burner will prompt you for the location of the disc image file.

Make sure the "disc type" is set to "CD-R".

Since we are burning a data CD, we can ignore the "Convert audio track to WAV format" option, which applies to audio CD only. The "Convert data disc to ISO format" option tells Phantom Burner to use ISO as data disc image format. ISO is a standard format which is supported by many software. If this option is not checked, Phantom Burner will create the image as its own "VDD" format.

Enter the disc image file name and click "Save".

Installing BurnQuick

When you install BurnQuick, it will look for compatible burner drives, and test their compatibility.

Click "Run" to bring up the Burner Identification Wizard.

As you can see, Phantom Burner is not on the list. No problem. Select "Phantom Burner" in the "Unrecoganized CD/DVD Drives" list, and select "ATAPI CD-RW 52/32/52x" in the "Supported CD/DVD Burners" list.

The model you select in the "Supported CD/DVD Burners" actually do not matter. You can select any of the "ATAPI CD-RW" drives.

If you haven't created a disc image file in Phantom Burner, please go back to the beginning of the tutorial and do so.

BurnQuick will start testing the burner. The test only last a few seconds.

Continue the setup process to install BurnQuick.

Using BurnQuick

BurnQuick is a shell extension, and it is integrated with Windows Explorer. To use Burn Quick, select the audio files you want to burn to the CD, right-click, and select "Burn Selection to Disc".

A dialog will come up. Phantom Burner should have been selected as the burner.

Select "Data" as the disc type.

Click "Start".

Burning

BurnQuick will start burning the disc.

Mount virtual data CD

As the disc is burned successfully, now we can mount the virtual disc in Windows Explorer, like a regular data CD.

Go to Phantom Burner dialog again.

If you used a real burner, you will have to eject the disc first, then mount it. It is the same with Phantom Burner.

First, click the "Eject" button to eject the "disc".

Then click "Mount Last Image"  to mount the image we juse created.

Now, when you go back to Windows Explorer, you will see the CD available. You can double-click to see its content.
