Burn virtual audio CD with DeepBurner 1.8 and Phantom Burner

Create a new CD image

Start Phantom Burner

Switch to the "Operations" tab.

Click on the "Create" button.

Phantom Burner will prompt you for the location of the disc image file.

Make sure the "disc type" is set to "CD-R".

Since we are burning an audio CD, we can ignore the "Convert data track to ISO format" option. The "Convert audio track to WAV format" option tells Phantom Burner to convert each audio track to an uncompressed WAV file. With this option enabled, Phantom Burner essentially becomes an audio format converter. Your burner software may support its own audio formats. When you burn to a virtual audio CD and convert to WAV files, the burner software's own format is converted to WAV.

If this option is not checked, Phantom Burner will create the image as its own "VDD" format.

Enter the disc image file name and click "Save".

Launch DeepBurner

Install DeepBurner and launch the application. It will ask you what kind of project you want to create.

Create audio CD

Select "Create Audio CD".

The DeepBurner audio CD user interface has two child windows. One is the audio CD project window. The other shows Windows Explorer.

Navigate to the audio files you want to burn in the Explorer panel.

Drag the files to the layout panel.

Click "Burn Disc" button on the toolbar. You will see the burner panel.

Make sure "PHNTMBLT PHANTOM BURNER" is selected as the drive.

Burning CD

Click "Burn" button.

DeepBurner will now start process the audio files.

...and soon finishes.

Once the files are processed (decoded), DeepBurner will start burning the disc.

Mount virtual audio CD

As the disc is burned successfully, now we can mount the virtual disc in Windows Explorer, like a regular audio CD.

Go to Phantom Burner dialog again.

If you used a real burner, you will have to eject the disc first, then mount it. It is the same with Phantom Burner.

First, click the "Eject" button to eject the "disc".

Then click "Mount Last Image"  to mount the image we juse created.

Now, when you go back to Windows Explorer, you will see the CD available. You can double-click to see its content.

Just like a regular audio CD, you can play it in any of the media players, like Windows Media Player, iTunes, WinAmp, or Real Player. You can rip it to any format of your choice, with WMP, iTunes, or any other software which supports ripping.
